Wedding Wear

Dress- Parker (on sale) / Jacket- Line & Dot / Heels- Christian Louboutin / Clutch- Tory Burch / Necklace- H&M / Rings- David Yurman, Tiffany, vintage / Lips- Stila Beso / Sunnies- Elizabeth and James

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was awesome. I saw The Lumineers Friday night and they were AMAZING. They said it was the biggest show they've ever played which made me feel even more happy to be there. I could tell how humbled they were by the whole experience. Then yesterday at Jazz Fest was Dave Matthews Band. It was raining which felt so right. Seeing DMB has been on my bucket list for A LONG time and they were wonderful, of course.

Anyway, I wore this outfit to a wedding last weekend. Yes, it's wedding season, again. I feel like it never really ended. This Parker dress I picked up at Co-Star is a great silhouette for a wedding. And I got to wear my new Louboutin's I bought in New York! They're actually pretty comfortable for not having a lot of support. The jacket is perfect for Spring... and it's leather. I'm still obsessing over leather.

P.S. Changed my hair up a bit. Went back to all blonde and got BANGS. I've never had "the fringe" before, but am slowly getting used to them. Definitely out of my comfort zone, but I think that can be a good thing sometimes :)

Music Edition: Jazz Fest + Some

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is coming up this weekend and I will conveniently be in town for a bachelorette party. I'll be checking out the festival on Sunday for namely DMB! But, also looking forward to some local jazz and zydeco music I can dance to. Jazz Fest is one of the coolest music festivals out there. It feels really local because it is really local. Bands such as Trombone Shorty, Rebirth Brass Band, my fellow LSU graduates Flow Tribe, Better Than Ezra, and more all have roots in the NOLA area. The food is fantastic and it's placed in one of the most culturally stimulating cities in the world.

I'm also seeing Band of Horses (who are playing at Jazz Fest as well) and The Lumineers in Austin this week. Music all week/weekend... couldn't ask for anything better :) Enjoy the playlist! Added that new Daft Punk jam in there just for fun.

1. No One's Gonna Love You- Band of Horses
2. Flowers In Your Hair- The Lumineers
3. Where Are You Going- Dave Matthews Band
4. Heretics- Andrew Bird
5. Desperately Wanting- Better Than Ezra
6. Wild- Royal Teeth
7. The Real Thing- Phoenix
8. Little Black Submarines- The Black Keys
9. Get Lucky- Daft Punk w/ Pharrell

30 Day Yoga Challenge Update: Week 3

 Follow me on Instagram @pieceology

I'm sure you're wondering why I have my Instagram photos as my Week 3 yoga challenge update... It's because this is all the stuff I was doing last week/weekend besides my yoga challenge :/ Now don't get me wrong, I didn't miss the entire week, but I did miss 4 days (not in a row, which I'll pat myself on the back for that) of it. It hurts to say it, but I'm not gonna bullshit with you and say it's going great. I had to go out of town last Wednesday - Sunday for a wedding so I got a bit off track within that time frame. Instead of planning accordingly, ie. early morning runs, finding a yoga studio while I was out of town, I just let myself slide.

Although, I feel OK about it, because I really have been doing pretty well besides this little lapse. I think the most important thing to remember if you're going to do something like this is to PLAN AHEAD. That's my advice... that I didn't take myself, haha! We live and we learn, right? As I'm writing this post, I've just gotten back from a sweaty hot yoga class, so there's that :) Back. On. Track. Happy Tuesday y'all!

Channeling Coachella

Romper- Free People (old) / Denim Vest- Levi's / Booties- Madison Harding x lust for life / Bag- B. Makowsky / Necklace- Forever 21 (similar) / Rings- Silpada / Watch- Michael Kors / Lips- Mac 'Pink Nouveau'

Who else is feeling super inspired by Coachella style after seeing all the photos of fashionable festival goers this past weekend? Kate Bosworth made me melt a little bit... This outfit is definitely something I would wear if I were there. The romper is so airy and comfortable. And a denim vest and cut-out booties are a no-brainer in my eyes. Topped off the outfit with a side braid and chunky jewelry to "hippie" it up a bit. Buy me a ticket, I'm on my way for weekend 2... I wish. Anyone actually going this weekend? Wait, don't tell me. I'm already jealous.

Military Chic

Military Jacket- Oasis / Top- Topshop / Pants- Reiss / Clutch- Alexander Wang / Earrings- Elizabeth Cole / Heels- Alexander Wang

I had a friend ask me the other day to help her style a look based around a military jacket and I immediately thought WHITE. It's Spring and the all white trend is really big for this season. Military jackets can often come across as masculine but with the right styling they can transform into the perfect outerwear piece to compliment a more pulled together outfit. Just add some statement earrings, a sleek clutch and cropped pants and voila. Classic, cool and chic. The 3 best C's of fashion :)

In Addition To: 30 Day Yoga Challenge Update

Shop these sneaks from my Polyvore set here

Week 2 is almost done and I can confidently and proudly say that we made it! The roomie and I are 13 days in and going strong. Getting in the routine is the hardest part. Once you have that it gets easier, I promise.

We initially decided to do our yoga practice everyday, but since have started incorporating a little cardio here and there. Running for about 30 minutes in the EARLY morning before work. It's been tough, but we're also getting used to that as well.

So with the extra addition of running we've both realized how old and crappy our tennis shoes are. I did some browsing and compiled some cute pairs above. I'm thinking on getting the Nike Free Run+ 3 pair in black and white. I love the look of them and they can be worn with other outfits besides running shorts and t-shirts. I'm thinking cropped pants and a fun tank top for a sporty, chic look. The sport luxe trend is really in right now so that's a score for getting your monies worth! I can even turn my workout regime into a fashion moment. Go figure :)

Black & White + Red

Top- Zara / Leather Leggings- Urban Outfitters / Heels- Zara / Bag- B. Makowsky / Necklace- H&M / Rings- Tiffany, Vintage / Skull Bracelet- Urban Outfitters / Watch- Michael Kors / Lips- Stila 'Beso'/ Nails- Essie 'Blanc'

My go to. Black and white stripes. I mentioned this outfit in my post on Tuesday and am so excited to be able to show you now! I won't lie I've worn a combo of this look at least 6 or 7 times and I'm not ashamed to admit it. The top is super comfy and leather has been my staple as of late, so of course I have it on repeat. I added some red lipstick and fun jewelry to make everything really pop. That's most important to me when styling up a black and white look. Those little details make it extra special. Hope you're having a great week! It's almost Friday again :)

Trending: Black & White Stripes

Black and white stripes have been on the scene in a BIG way lately. They're going to continue to be a huge trend throughout Spring and Summer for sure. They give an outfit such a sleek, cool feel. I wore this trend last week in this post and you may or may not be seeing me in it again later this week :) I just can't get enough! Adding a bright pump and/or lip color gives it that little something extra to make the look really stand out. Can't wait for you to see how I styled this trend yet again. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, feel free to treat yourself to some shopping from my set above over on my Polyvore page here.

We Can Do It!

As of this past Monday, April 1st, my awesome roomie (who doubles as my BFF) and I started a 30 day yoga challenge. Now that I live in an area of town that is super close to my favorite studio I decided I needed to get myself back in shape. It is almost swimsuit season after all... (EEK).

The Rules:

1. Attend one yoga classes everyday (including weekends) for 30 days consecutively.

2. If you absolutely have to skip a day it must either be made up with a 2-a-day or added on to the end of the 30 days.

3. If you can't get to yoga one day you can make up for it by going to the gym or taking a little 30 minute jog outside that day.

That's it. Pretty simple, right?... Kind of. It's already posing a tough challenge to go every single day with both of our busy schedules, but we are making it work. I'll be posted a few times throughout the month with updates on our progress, challenges we're facing and better eating habits I'm hoping we will pick up along the way. Maybe some recipes?! The roomie is a pretty stellar chef.

As they say, it takes 18 days to form a habit... Whoever they are, I hope they're right! Wish us luck.

What do you do to stay motivated?? Any tips would be much appreciated :)

Happy Birthday to Me + My Wishlist

I put together this little helpful list for anyone (cough, cough- friends or family members...) who feel like getting me a birthday present :)

That's right. Today is a big birthday for me. I am 25 years old. My quarter life has arrived. Weird. But I'm actually excited about it and ready to take on another year. Happy Birthday to me! And I hope you all are having a great week as well.

My New View

Top- American Apparel / Dress (worn as a skirt)- Target (similar) / Jacket- Forever 21 / Booties- Madison Harding x lust for life / Belt- Urban Outfitters / Bag- B. Makowsky / Rings- Silpada / Lips- Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso

Check out my new view. Isn't it beautiful? I'm finally starting to settle into my new place after a busy past few weeks of moving, SXSW, and NYC. I feel so lucky that I have this to look at right in my backyard whenever I want. This outfit was something I wore during South By and I think it went so well with this backdrop. Oh, and happy first of the month! April is always my favorite because I get to celebrate my birthday. It's on Wednesday :)
