Watch. Listen. Read. Shop.

Happy Friday! Here are some links you might like to check out over this holiday weekend...

Watch. This documentary about musician/artist, Daniel Johnston, who became a local celebrity around Austin back in the 1980s. The film specifically focuses on his battle with a severe mental disability and how it deeply affects not only him, but his family, friends and his career. It's a bit painful to watch, but you'll be glad you did if you have any interest at all in music or psychology. View the full-length film here.

Listen. I found out about the aforementioned documentary while listening to this wonderfully witty weekly podcast my blogger buddy Nicole and her boyfriend just recently started. This couple of course has great chemistry and they touch on everything from women's rights, to sports, to Justin Beiber. They're really just too cute. And anyway, who doesn't love Breakfast For Dinner?! Take a listen here.

Read. OK, so I'm not really a big reader. I used to be when I was younger, but am definitely a victim of the Internet and I, albeit shamefully, admit that I'd rather surf the web than pick up a book. Trust me, I'm trying to get back into reading, but for now check out this hilarious list of why our love Ryan Gosling makes us want to be someone else all the time sometimes. Oh, swoon.

Shop. This week I've got two fun shopping ventures for you. May as well with Black Friday today and Cyber Monday coming up in a couple days. This sweater-cardi from Forever 21 looks like the coziest thing I've ever seen and this black and gold accessories collection from Target looks much more expensive then the price tags would lead us to believe. Winner, winner, turkey dinner!

I know, I know. Thanksgiving was yesterday, but you all know you'll be eating the leftovers for the next week. Or at least that's my plan...

Happy weekend loves!

Happy Thanksgiving, Y'all!

Happy Thanksgiving! If you're celebrating I hope you have a great one with people you love and maybe even have tomorrow off of work or school too :) If you don't celebrate, well here are some pretty Fall photos to hopefully brighten up your day. Fall is always my favorite season and we only have a few more weeks left before Winter officially begins. Sadly we really don't get much of a Fall in the south anyway. It usually goes from summer to winter and then repeats that pattern every year. And speaking of the year, I can't believe it's almost over. Feels like I was just celebrating the start of 2013!

When are we too old to wear ripped jeans?

I was talking with my grandmother the other night about going shopping together over the Thanksgiving holiday and mentioned I really wanted a pair of ripped jeans. She proceeded to ask me, in all sincerity, "When do you think you'll be too old to wear ripped jeans?" I thought about it for a few seconds then responded, "Well, I don't know, but not right now!" So, we went out the next day and I got a pair of really cute Hudson Jeans, with rips in them of course.

Afterward, I really started to think about her question. When would I actually feel too old to wear certain things? After pondering over it for a few days I think I've come to a pretty good conclusion. As long as we feel good in what we are wearing we can wear whatever we please. If I feel that at 60, 70, 80 years old I want a pair of ripped jeans or a cute floral baby doll dress I won't hesitate to go out and buy just that. I can pretty much guarantee I won't feel comfortable in such youthful clothing when I get "old" but hey, it's just the same way I feel now about certain trends grade school kids wear. You won't find me running around in something Hannah Montana would wear. Pink polka dot tights paired with aqua blue leather skirts just aren't my thing now that I'm in my 20s (and also probably because I'm not a tween pop star). I think we evolve with age in many ways, one of those ways being how we dress. The older I get the more I won't feel comfortable in some of the things I would wear now.

While I was doing some research for this post I came across this brilliant blog called Advanced Style. It's a street style blog featuring photos of older women in extremely fashion forward clothing. Its contents prove that just because someone is considered "old" by societies standards doesn't mean they have to sacrifice style. And if that's not enough just look at Anna Dello Russo in her 50s, or Linda Rodin in her 60s, all the way to freakin Karl Lagerfeld who is 80 years old! These style icons make me believe that you really can be absolutely fabulous at any age. Even without those silly ripped jeans as part of your wardrobe anymore.

Cajun Style Holiday

It's Hump Day! Just wanted to drop in and say hi and to let y'all know I'm currently in Louisiana spending time with family and friends for the Thanksgiving holiday. Definitely been having a great time. I've been enjoying the following so far:

Long drives with fairy tale-like pink skies.

Food, and to be specific, cajun food, and to be even more specific, never ending bowls of seafood gumbo from out in Cajun country.

More food :) I have a huge sweet tooth, so this table at my friend's baby shower was where you could find me most of the party.

The best Saints game of the season so far with Dad! Who Dat?!

Went shopping for some new kicks. I've just recently taken up running again. OK, maybe I walk sometimes but that's beside the point. The important thing to remember here is that now my feet will be happy when I go run/walk.

Black or Navy

I wore this little number to a baby shower over the weekend. It's the most comfy dress. It looks navy in these photos but it's actually black. But I heard navy is the new black (or was that orange, or pink?) so let's just pretend I didn't tell you it's black so you guys can think I'm cool for wearing navy.

The Leopard Wall

Happy Monday! I hope you had a fun Halloween and a great weekend. I sure did. Here is my final look I styled for Minnetonka Moccasin. These are probably my favorite pair of the three mainly because they are super versatile and outrageously comfy. And how cool is this mural?! I had a little too much fun shooting these photos I was so excited about it. There are so many gems like this one all around Austin. Love it.

You still have until this Friday, November 8th to enter to win one pair of mocs that I styled up. For details and to enter the giveaway check out my post from last week here. Talk soon!
