Happy Holidays!

I didn't get a chance to post these photos yesterday. I was too busy you know, eating, and napping, and watching movies. It was rough. Anyway, I hope you had a great holiday yesterday no matter if you celebrate Christmas or not. It was just really nice to relax and unwind before the new year! These are some photos of my Christmas decorations that I won't be taking down till afternoon the 1st. I will not have the holiday spirit ripped away from me just yet! Plus I'm not even back home from visiting family till the weekend so that's another excuse to be lazy and leave them up...

All photos by me.

Holiday Bar Cart Styling Tips

Happy Holidays! I've been so busy since Thanksgiving I can't even believe Christmas is next week! My roomie and I held a little Christmas/Dirty Santa party last weekend for our close friends, which means I finally forced myself to get our bar cart all set up. Isn't it cute?! My mom found the cart at a thrift mall in Justin, Tx for a ridiculously cheap price. It was already painted the turquoise color and I totally love that about it. The color perfectly compliments the rest of our living and dining decor. More home photos to come one day soon I hope.

So on to my tips... I want to give one BIG rule of thumb when setting up a bar cart for a party. Make it functional! I see tons of adorable carts on Pinterest and shit but so many have nothing on them that actually goes together if you are throwing a party. Giant coffee table books and lamps are super cute and all but they won't get you any closer to drunk! Just kidding :) But, for real, have some mixers and a good assortment of liquors, plus enough cups and/or glasses for your guests. What I loved about the way I styled our cart was that guests actually went up to it and were able to make their drink right there. This may sound creepy, but it's actually totally gratifying to watch people making drinks on the bar cart you styled.

And just one other thing. Since we are talking holiday bar cart styling here, add some cute holiday cheer. I used a mason jar and filled it with kisses and candy canes. I also kept the color scheme very "holiday" with mostly reds, greens, and golds. I incorporated the colors in my glassware and with some vintage-style Coca Cola bottles. You can't tell but they're the Christmas edition bottles with Santa labels on them. I was pretty thrilled about that little detail. Isn't it the little things that should make us most happy anyway?

Hope these tips helped and I hope you're having a great week. Ho, ho, ho for now.

John Wayne Ain't Got Nothin' On My Fringe Game

Hell No!! Sorry, that's a continuation from the title of this post. Which is a lyric on the song Thrift Shop by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Just wanted to clarify... I'm not yelling "Hell No!!" at you, I promise. Not today anyway.

So, if you follow my blog or know me in person, you know I love Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. I saw them last November at Fun Fun Fun Fest, met them in March at SXSW, and then saw them again at Free Press Summer Fest back in June. I'm not obsessed, I swear... It was wonderful seeing them at those festivals, and nothing can top actually meeting them in person outside of Stubb's with maybe 5 other people that just happened to be in the right place at the right time, but finally I got to see them this past Saturday in Dallas with my brother. Front. Row. YES. Front. Row. That was my goal.

I love festivals, you know that, but I can't see shit during shows unless there's not a big crowd. And Mack and Ryan bring out a big crowd, so you can imagine what this little short stack's view looks like... Heads, backs (sweaty backs), big hair. You get the point. But, as you can see from these photos I was straight up right there, no one in front of me and everyone behind me. It was magical.

These guys are truly passionate and are so grateful for all the success they've gained in the last year and it really shows when you see them live. It was everything I expected and so much more. Powerful, energetic, heartbreaking, breathtaking, inspiring, I could go on and on. Me and my brother admitted to tearing up a couple times throughout the show. And I, of course, had goosebumps the whole night. I can't wait for next time... whenever that may be.
