Lately I've been loving on all things sparkly and shiny. I bought this pair of heels and this gold skirt at the same time, both from Zara. I've been trying to incorporate more color into my wardrobe this year and these two purchases were a small step in that direction.

I'm also planning on wearing this skirt with a really bright, fun crop top to a big SXSW event I'm vending for Pieceology Vintage tomorrow! Yep, I'll be at Swan Dive here in Austin tomorrow from 12-6pm for The Wild Honey Pie showcase. I've been a huge fan and attendee of this event for a long time and am so excited to be a part of it this time around. I'll have all my vintage goodies there plus there will be tons of great music, some rad giveaways, and free drinks! If you'll be in town come hang out! You can RSVP here.

April Fancy Tunes 2015

Happy April! This is my favorite month for several reasons but mainly because well, it's my name and also it's my birthday month. So, to start off this glorious month I put together a little playlist with some of the artists I discovered/got to see during SXSW a couple weeks ago since I didn't feature the event on the blog because I am a terrible blogger. Sorry friends. But I do have to say I actually have a whole month of posts lined up. I've started a blog calendar and I'm going to try to stick to it! Also, I'll be working with a new friend on some outfit posts that I can't wait to share with you. Stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy the music.

SXSW 2014 Recap

Hi. Wellll, how time flies when you're have much too much fun, right?! There was Mardi Gras, then I got right back to Austin just in time for SXSW. And can I just say, O.M.G. I'm exhausted, but these past few weeks have been such a blast. South By this year exceeded my greatest expectations and I'm so happy about it. We discovered new music, enjoyed some old favorites, made new friends, played with animals, got our faces painted, drank a lot... of coffee, of course ;) and got little sleep. SO. Worth. IT.

Then there was my favorite day at The Beehive hosted by The Wild Honey Pie music blog. These humans are awesome. They put on a killer showcase with some badass decor (um, gold painted honey bear chandeliers anyone??!) and introduced me to so many great new bands. One being How Sad. They are so wonderful, y'all. Check them out. They were super nice and their new singer/tamborine cutie, Camellia and I were basically best friends by the end of the day. They made me wanna dance (check), become best friends with them (basically check), jump around (yeah, check), and learn the drums (well... I'll work on that one). Besides How Sad I discovered a lot of great new music throughout the week and I'm so thrilled about it. Check out the playlist I put together of some of my faves I saw during my 10(ish) day whirlwind at SXSW!

I feel so lucky that I have this to look at right in my backyard whenever I want. This outfit was something I wore during South By and I think it went so well with this backdrop. Oh, and happy first of the month! April is always my favorite because I get to celebrate my birthday. It's on Wednesday :)

South By Southwest Recap

Pretty much spent 90% of South By waiting in lines... so we brought snacks.
Outfit Details: Denim Button Up- Target / Crop Top- American Apparel / Cut Offs- Vintage Levis / Leather Cap- ASOS / Bag- Coach / Jewelry- Nordstrom Rack, Stella & Dot, Michael Kors, BaubleBar

The night before SXSW officially started my roomie and I went to see STRFKR at Mohawk. Great show.

Watched some bands play at Speak Easy right in front of the Frost Tower. Pretty bad ass view.

Yay! Got to see my friends Rosco Bandana (from Mississippi) play at Javelina on Rainey St. So glad we got to hang out and watch the show. You guys were great! As usual.

What what what what. Outside of Stubb's I got to meet Ben Haggerty AKA Macklemore! Best day :)

Oh yeah, and his right hand man. The crazy talented and super adorable Ryan Lewis!!

Had so much fun at the Rachael Ray Party at Stubb's. Got to do the Footloose line dance during Kenny Loggins performance. Pretty cool!

And finally, to end a LONG week of not only SX, but also moving into a new place and trying to get settled in, I had a relaxing bunch at Haddington's on St. Paddy's Day with my best friends :)

It was fun SX, but now time to rest for a couple days then I'm off to NYC for mine and my mom's birthday. I'm wearing a short tank dress right now, and it's going to be in the 30s and 40s in NYC. Burrrrr. But I'm still super excited to visit again. Weeeee! Stay tuned.

What to Wear: Music Festival Season

For outfit details check out this set on my Polyvore page

With festival season right around the corner (hello, Coachella in like a month... not that I'm going :( but still) and SXSW in full force here in Austin, I thought I'd put together a little essentials inspiration board. Let me break it down for ya:

Tops: A vintage (or vintage inspired) band tee, because duh. I don't have one yet, I'm a little ashamed to say, but I'm working on it. Peasant tops are a staple at festivals. Crop tops are cute and show a little skin which you will appreciate in July.

Bottoms: The classic jean cut-off is a must. Leather shorts give you some edgy coolness. Overalls are super comfy and if you've been wanting to try this trend but are kind of afraid to (like me) a festival is the best place. Trust me. There will be plenty other people wearing much more ridic get ups than you.

Shoes: Booties, flat forms, and sneakers are perfect for all seasons. I personally don't like wearing flat sandals to festivals. Festivals are usually out in the desert or in big parks so between the dirt and grass you should protect your feetsies. Sorry if that seems girly, but I'm a girl, so there.

For your head: It's hot and sunny for most of the season so wearing a hat not only looks cool, but also will shield your precious skin from the sun. You have no idea how much I want that floral cap! Dying.

Bags: Cross bodies and backpacks. Easy is key. No one wants to lug around a big ole purse. And I guess if you're one of those people who likes fanny packs those are also festival acceptable.

Jewels: Jewelry isn't super necessary, especially when it's hot and you're all sweaty, but it does add to an outfit. I think all of my options above could go without but I'm a jewelry slut so I had to add some fun Vanessa Mooney necklaces and rings. Her jewelry pieces are pulled straight out of festival goers dreams!

Alright friends! Hope these tips were helpful. Try to make it out to at least one festival this season. Even if you aren't a huge music fan there's always great food, great people, and good vibes!

Music Edition: SXSW 2013

Photo via @pieceology

Here's that SXSW playlist I promised you. SXSW is a week long slew of events here in Austin featuring music, films, art, fashion, and more. It's probably one of the craziest concepts I've ever heard of. You've got it RSVP to get into events or you can buy a badge for like a million dollars (not really, I'm just being dramatic)... I won't even try to explain it, but just know that it's super fun and a lot of bands have been discovered here over the years. This will be my first time and I am so excited!

This playlist features about 35 different songs from some of the bands I'm most excited about seeing. Some notables: Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Ra Ra Riot, Local Natives, Youth Lagoon, Surfer Blood, He's My Brother She's My Sister, Half Moon Run, Reptar, Divine Fits, Funeral Suits, Flume, Dan Croll, and my friends from Mississippi- Rosco Bandana. They're a really sweet, talented group of people I've had the chance to hang out with a few times. Really looking forward to seeing them perform again. Enjoy the playlist here.

Happy weekend and happy listening!

Pointy + Leopard

Top- Nordstrom Rack / Pants- Urban Outfitters (on sale) / Heels- Zara / Bag- Botkier / Sunnies- Elizabeth and James

Wore this to a meeting earlier this week. Loving my new leopard purse and pointy heels. The height of the heel is perfect. Not too low or high... they're just right.

Also, come back tomorrow. I'll have a fun SXSW playlist for y'all. I'm getting so excited about it! I'll be moving this weekend and starting to hit up all the fun SX events here in Austin. Busy, busy. Have a great day everyone!
