My Favorite Albums of 2014

The other day I did a little reflection about my year as a whole. But, another big part of my year was live music. I went to NINE festivals- SXSW, Jazz Fest, Psych Fest, Free Press Summer Fest, X Games, Float Fest, Utopia Fest, ACL, and Fun Fun Fun Fest (all but one were in Texas) and I'm not sure how many regular live shows (at least 15). It was by far my biggest year of music yet. It was fantastic.

These are my favorite albums that came out this year in no particular order. I was fortunate enough to see 7 out of the 10 live. Pretty awesome and I'm so thankful to live in a city that offers so much great live music every single day. Check out my list and I also put a playlist together with my favorite songs from each album. Oh, and Happy New Year's Eve! I'll talk to ya next year.

1. Odesza* - In Return
2. Sylvan Esso* - Sylvan Esso
3. Glass Animals* - Zaba
4. Ages and Ages - Divisionary
5. Caribou - Our Love
6. alt-J* - This Is All Yours
7. First Aid Kit* - Stay Gold
8. Stars - No One Is Lost
9. Spoon* - They Want My Soul
10. Temples* - Sun Structures

Plaid + Stripes + 2014 Reflections

Striped Top from Strut, Zara Shorts, Forever 21 Fuzzy Cardigan, Duo Over the Knee Boots (similar), Francesca's Infinity Scarf (similar), Hanes Tights, Forever 21 Backpack, Ray-Ban Sunnies

Hey there. Isn't it kind of magical how in one week's time we get two major holidays? It was JUST Christmas and now it's about to be freaking 2015. Damn. I guess I could talk about this adorably comfy and cute outfit but I think I'll take this opportunity to reflect a little on what 2014 was like for me...

This year was amazing, it was fun, it was crazy in more ways than I could have ever imagined, it was up, it was down. It was so many things wonderful and terrible all at the same time. This was the best and worst year of my life. And the worst parts have only made me better. I've become so much more self aware. At 26 I'm finally starting to get to know myself. Isn't that weird? How you can be alive for a pretty long time, considering the span of one's life, and not really know who you are... and not even realize it? This year was absolutely one for a lot of self discovery and it's been extremely enlightening. I can't wait to see where 2015 will take me if I keep this up. And I hope to gallivant around here on this blog a little more as well. Here's to 2015, y'all! Bring it on. I'm ready.

14 "Resolutions" for 2014

Well hello. Happy 2014! How has the year been for you so far? We're already a week in. I've got no complaints as of yet. All in all, it's been a pretty nice past several days for me.

So as it goes, here are my "resolutions" for 2014 ... It's really more of a "Things I want to do this year" list ... some are technically resolutions, so whatevs. But I just wanted to put some things in writing that I want to keep in mind to do this year. You know, so I don't forget! My mind isn't as fresh and clear as it once was, y'all.

1. Travel more.
2. Learn better photography + how to better edit my photos.
3. Drink Less Beer, Drink More Water (that might be my new motto).
4. Read books more often.
5. Do more cleanses (already started one this week, BOOM).
6. Continue yoga.
7. Be kind and positive toward others ... Smile!
8. Get more sleep.
9. Frequent thrift shops (so many good ones in Austin).
10. Take more outfit photos for the blog.
11. Start collecting records (started this one also, but I gotta keep it up).
12. Write things down ... on paper.
13. Grow up a little (but not like, completely).
14. Start doing the things I really want to do ... no more holding back or putting off :)

What resolutions are you making this year? Do you have any of the same one's as me??
