Grandmother's Jewelry

When I visited my grandparents last weekend (my mom and brother were in town also), I decided to do something I've been meaning to do for A LONG time. Raid my grandmother's jewelry bureau (yes, she has an entire bureau)! A few of these pieces date back to before I was born, which for some reason really intrigues me.

I think my love for jewelry first sprung because of her. She has always been a very fashionable women. And for as long as I can remember she's paired her outfits with lovely trinkets as these and I've always admired and hoped one day I could wear bracelets, necklaces, earrings and more as effortlessly as she has. I am so excited to start wearing these pieces with my outfits. I've been thinking up ways to wear each item for days now. Stay tuned :)

This 'A' ring is probably my favorite piece I snagged. Although I would have taken it either way, it is lucky that my grandmother and I both have names that begin with the same letter.

Birthdays & Such

Monday I mentioned that my mom and brother came to visit me over the weekend. Well, Monday was also my mom's birthday. And next week is mine, so we had a joint birthday cake. She also wanted to take some photos of the 2 of us to put in her house, which I mentioned in my last post [HERE] also. So here is the result. That's mine and her fav. And our cake was so yummy and super sweet, just the way we like it. Thanks for stopping by! I have a fun outfit post for tomorrow, so come back then to check that out :)

P.S. Take a look at my instragram [HERE] for some more photos from the weekend.

It's my momma's birthday today. Happy Birthday Mom! Speaking of my mom, she and my little brother were in town this weekend to visit my grandparents and I. We spent the weekend eating (Check out my Instagram [HERE] for that, haha), shopping, and catching up. It was really nice to be with family. Yesterday my mom wanted to take some photos of her and I together and this is what I decided to wear. I'll post a couple shots of our "photo shoot" later. Happy Monday and I hope you all have a wonderful start to your week :) Thanks for stopping by.

Featured: 10 Trends in Dresses for S/S ’12 (Part 2)

Hi friends! I'm back, as promised, with Part 2 of 10 trends in affordable dresses for S/S '12. Here are my final 5 picks. Hope you in enjoy them and thanks for looking :)

BOWS - Ok, so this Trina Turk yellow bow dress via Piperlime [HERE] isn't exactly affordable... but, I saw it the other day and just had to include it. I mean, look at it, how could I not?? I love this dress. Perfect for work or a spring/summer outdoor wedding. The little gold button fasteners in the back are my fav detail (besides that adorable bow, of course).

LACE - If I had to pick one trend I think will be most prominent in the coming months, lace would have to be my choice. IT'S EVERYWHERE. This dress from Urban Outfitters [HERE] comes in a lot more colors than just the 2 seen above. What I love about lace is that it can transition so easily from day to night without really even having to add or change anything about your outfit. Sweet enough for daytime and sassy enough for going out at night ;)

MIDI/MAXI DRESSES - The reason I have Midi/Maxi here, even though this Tulle pleated dress via Piperlime [HERE] is described as a Midi on the site, is not only because both styles are big trends this year, but also because, for shorties like myself, this dress would be a maxi on us, haha! This dress reminds me of Disco Barbie. It can be dressed down during the day with a gold sandal and dressed up at night with a statement necklace or earrings with a wrist full of sparkling arm candy. LOVE.

PEPLUM - YAY! I'm so happy about this trend, because I have a Peplum-waisted skirt that I bought about 3 years ago that I never wore and it still has the tag on it, and before I could find time to wear it the trend kinda went "out". This dress is from Mod Cloth [HERE] and although it may seem to fancy for daytime, the eyelet pattern saves it when paired with some cute espadrilles.

FLORAL - By far my favorite trend that I hope NEVER, EVER goes away. My closet and dresser drawers have been full of flowers for years. I like the pleats in this floral printed dress by Ya Los Angeles via Piperlime [HERE]. This is another good day-to-night dress depending on shoes, or you could replace the sash with a cool braided belt to make it a little more funky... CHECK OUT Piperlime. 3 of my picks are from there. They have great stuff, especially shoes :)

So there you have it. My top 10 trends for S/S '12. I've already purchased some lace, mint green, navajo, cheetah and of course floral. I'm slowly on my way to chicness for the upcoming seasons! What about you, have you stocked up on any of these trends yet? OH, and by the way, today is the first day of Spring :) So, Happy Spring my fashionable friends!

Featured: 10 Trends in Dresses for S/S '12 (Part 1)

I was talking with my mom yesterday and she posed a good question. "Where can I find cute summery dresses online at a decent price?" she asked. And I found myself a little stumped. I thought, this is something I should know... So, today I did the research. I was pretty sure I knew what sites to look to, but wasn't sure I would find anything affordable+cute. But, my instincts were right. I discovered some pretty fun dresses to add to my ever-growing wish list :) Here are 5 of 10 trends I've been seeing around the net for Spring/Summer 2012--in the form of the dress. Check back tomorrow for my other 5 picks!

MINT GREEN - This pastel shade has been showing up everywhere lately. And this dress from Urban Outfitters [HERE] is a great staple to add to you wardrobe if you are a fan of this pretty hue. I love the crocheted top and am a sucker for zipper-backed dresses! They give any dress a little edge, which is always nice.

PETER PAN COLLARS - I love this trend. I think it's so feminine and sweet. This dress from Zara [HERE] would look great layered underneath a light sweater with the collar peeping out for spring, or simply as is for those hot summer months with a cute flat or wedge.

NAVAJO PRINTS - This dress is from Mod Cloth [HERE] which has so many cute dresses at affordable prices. A lot of people call this a southwestern print, or even an Arizona-style print, as mentioned in the description on Mod Cloth. If you don't have some navajo/southwestern/Arizona/whatever love in your closet, get it! It's perfect for the upcoming festival season.

CHEETAH PRINT - Yes, I am obsessed with cheetah (or leopard) print as you can see from my last outfit post [HERE]. I get it from my mom. This lovely is from Nasty Gal, [HERE] which is a site I've just recently discovered since I started blogging. The name is just to fun. The dress has really cute detailing, like the buttons down the from. You could even pair it with a fun belt to give it a personal touch.

NEONS - This dress is from ASOS [HERE], a site with amazing amounts of variety! I love the drop waist and low cut of the dress, which can be really flattering on lots of body types. And, while I'm not one for neon's, (I'm more of a neutral/black type of girl) I think yellow is a great route to go if you want to try out this trend. It's normal enough, but at the same time, I think, can be considered neon. It's a win-win for all of use in the "plain-color-palette" club.

Ok loves, see ya tomorrow :)

Leopard print Pants

Top- Urban Outfitters, Bra- Victoria's Secret, Belt- H&M, Leopard Pants- Buffalo Exchange, Pumps- Nine West, Bag- Coach Classics line

I've been wanting to post these pants for weeks, but haven't gotten the chance yet. I wore them about a month ago while on vacation in Austin and felt so sassy, but that was before I started my blog! So, once I began pieceology a couple weeks later this outfit was top of my list to post, but I just now got around to wearing it again. These pants, like my floral pants from a few posts back [HERE], are also super versatile. When I saw them I thought they were a little out there, but always one to take a fashion risk, I tried them on anyway... And, wow, I'm so glad I did, because the length was perfect. Which almost NEVER happens for me since I'm super short. SUPER short :)

I also just recently got this Coach City Bag... It's so simple and chic. Last year Coach re-introduced their Classics line that originated in the 70's and I've been eying at these beautifully plain bags ever since. I never thought I would purchase a Coach bag, since I was never a fan of their stuff from the past 10 or so years, but this line is amazing. Good job Coach! And for all you vintage lovers who don't wanna fork over the $300+ $$$ for one of these babies, the originals are all over the inter-web (I've seen A TON on Etsy) for as low as $30! Pretty cool, huh?

I HEART ♥s

Sweater- JCREW, Skirt- Urban Outfitters, Wedges- Forever 21

Little did I know when I bought this top that I would end up seeing similar ones all over the place this winter. I just bought it because I thought it was cute. It has such a feminine feel... I love it!
