Bonnaroo Instagram Recap

Hey guys! I'm back from Bonnaroo. Wow! What a whirlwind. I had the time of my life. I saw some really amazing shows. Some of my favorites were Temples, Jungle, Florence and the Machine, My Morning Jacket, Odesza, Flume, Kendrick Lamar, Bleachers, Sylvan Esso and Billy Joel. It was unlike any other festival I've ever been to just as I expected it to be. Everyone was super friendly and the atmosphere was almost dream-like. I'll have a few more thoughts on the fest later this week but for now, I'm going to go reflect on my time and be grateful for this amazing experience I was so fortunate enough to have. Hope your weekend was also filled with lots and lots of magic.

Wow it was a rainy Memorial Day weekend in Austin but regardless I enjoyed it and the extra day off. Among all the rain, we have had a few decent days here and there like this day I got to shoot with Chelsea for the folks at In Blue Handmade. This leather goods shop travels around from festival to festival selling handcrafted leather goods from tote bags, to flasks, journals, guitar straps and more. They are so sweet that they are kindly offering my readers 10% off on any purchase made from their retail shop HERE with the coupon code inbluepieceology. Get shopping! I'll be at Bonnaroo in June and so will In Blue Handmade. Excited to stop by their tent to say hi and shop some beautiful merchandise!

My Weekend- Camping, Music, Austin Psych Fest

Happy Friday! I'm going to Austin Psych Fest this weekend and I couldn't be more excited about it. I've never been and also I've never camped out at a music festival before. I haven't done much camping in general so this should be perfect since it's a little more like glamping... regular bathrooms, showers, a convenience store on site with food, drinks, supplies, and oh yeah, festival grounds with amazing music and food/retail vendors right across the way. BUT, I will be sleeping in a tent. No AC. On the ground. With only a polyester zipper opening separating me from the outside world. If that's not hardcore roughin' it, I don't know what is. Feel free to refer to me as outdoorsy from now on. What are YOU doing this weekend?

SXSW 2014 Recap

Hi. Wellll, how time flies when you're have much too much fun, right?! There was Mardi Gras, then I got right back to Austin just in time for SXSW. And can I just say, O.M.G. I'm exhausted, but these past few weeks have been such a blast. South By this year exceeded my greatest expectations and I'm so happy about it. We discovered new music, enjoyed some old favorites, made new friends, played with animals, got our faces painted, drank a lot... of coffee, of course ;) and got little sleep. SO. Worth. IT.

Then there was my favorite day at The Beehive hosted by The Wild Honey Pie music blog. These humans are awesome. They put on a killer showcase with some badass decor (um, gold painted honey bear chandeliers anyone??!) and introduced me to so many great new bands. One being How Sad. They are so wonderful, y'all. Check them out. They were super nice and their new singer/tamborine cutie, Camellia and I were basically best friends by the end of the day. They made me wanna dance (check), become best friends with them (basically check), jump around (yeah, check), and learn the drums (well... I'll work on that one). Besides How Sad I discovered a lot of great new music throughout the week and I'm so thrilled about it. Check out the playlist I put together of some of my faves I saw during my 10(ish) day whirlwind at SXSW!

Festival Jewelry

I guess technically festival season is over, but we do things a lil differently here in Texas. It's too damn hot in the summer for music festivals! Austin City Limits Music Festival is coming up next weekend then a few weeks after that is my personal fave, Fun Fun Fun Fest. Both festivals are in Austin and even though they are in October and November sometimes it's still pretty freakin' hot! Last year at FFF I was burning up. Ohhh Texas, your weather does confuse me.

Anyway, I've started planning what I'm going to wear, which is my second fave part about music festivals obvi. To get inspired I decided to pull out all my vintage jewelry my grandma gave me a couple years ago. These are perfect festival pieces if you ask me! Also, for added inspo, I'll be doing a fun Music Edition post next week with some songs from the bands I'm most excited to see. Soooo many good acts this year! Stay tuned :)
