Happy Monday! I'm back from my long girls weekend in Marfa, TX and I'm feeling so refreshed! We had an amazing time but more about the trip coming up later this week! Right now I wanna talk about fall. Friends, we are real close to the first official day of fall. Holy shit. Where has the time gone?! But more importantly, what do I wear in Texas when it's still 95 degrees outside in September? I've always been a big advocate for dressing for the season so even though it is still hot you probably won't see me running around in tank dresses and short shorts for much longer. This outfit is a perfect example of something I would wear during this strange, transitional time of year. It's cooling off enough (at least in the morning and evening) to wear jeans, and sandals are still acceptable for a little longer, IMO. Then, throw on a flowy top to keep you feeling breezy when the temps decided to rise on you and boom, mid-September in Texas appropriate outfit.

Oh yeah, and how about this pizza mural? Y'all, I love pizza. Like, if I had to eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be pepperoni pizza with jalapenos. I can totally see myself in this casual outfit on a cool(ish) September evening eating pizza on the patio of one of my favorite pizza shops in town with all my friends. Sounds like a pretty perfect night to me.

What are some of your fall go-to pieces? Are you someone who cares about dressing for the season even if the temps don't match it?

P.S. I'm talking more about fall transitioning with several other local Austin bloggers on Lady ATX Mag right now. The site just launched today and I'm so excited to be featured and to watch this online publication grow. Congrats ladies! Go check out their beautiful site!

West Elm Austin Blogger Dinner

I'm taking a little break from trip recapping to chat with you about a very special dinner I attended this past weekend at West Elm Austin.

Chelsea Francis, my dear friend and very talented photographer, along with West Elm hosted this beautiful dinner and it was such a great way to spend one of my first evenings back home. I had no idea that West Elm was so willing to work with and support local creatives and influencers but y'all, wow. I was blown away. West Elm is becoming a safe space, as Nicole would call it (and I agree), for the Austin creative community to come together and host events sharing their craft, whatever that may be. Whether it's hosting a knitting workshop, having a styling event, teaching people how to create the perfect table setting... Whatever it is that you are passionate about and want to share they can accommodate you.

Embracing creativity, empowering women, supporting small business owners. What a breath of fresh air to see this kind of progress in Austin in the last year. I'm so happy I'm here witnessing its unfolding and to actually be apart of it as well. I can't wait to grow with all of you awesome people! If you are interested in hosting an event at West Elm please let me know and I will get you connected. And you never know. I may even be hosting one in the (somewhat) near future.

High-Waisted

H&M Top (on sale), Forever 21 Pants, Urban Outfitters Heels (old), Cleobella Bag (similar), Anthropologie Necklace (old), Ray-Ban Sunglasses

This was probably the last time it was acceptable to wear pants in Austin for at least 4 months. It's getting HOT over here, y'all. But I took one last opportunity to wear my cute high-waisted black jeans while wondering around the east side a couple weekends ago. I'm happy to say we finally had better weather here over the weekend and I think the rain has finally decided to calm down. Thank goodness. We absolutely needed it but it was becoming a problem. People getting hurt, homes being destroyed by extreme flooding. Very sad. So good riddance rain and hello summer sunshine!

Citygram Magazine's Animated Summer Fashion Lookbook

One of my favorite things about Austin is that I'm constantly surrounded by creative people, creative content and innovative local businesses. Austin is definitely "ahead of the curve" and a great example of this is Citygram Magazine which is a local mobile, interactive publication. They feature influential people in the community, local businesses, food, music, and of course fashion, just to name a few.

The mag has just released their July issue with a new feature fashion lookbook. It's unique because it's both interactive and animated, offering readers a new and improved way to view a style series. It's super cool and definitely worth a look. Not only that but if you live in Austin Citygram it's a great source of inspiration and offers an up-to-date connection to the wonderful community that is Austin, TX!

SXSW 2014 Recap

Hi. Wellll, how time flies when you're have much too much fun, right?! There was Mardi Gras, then I got right back to Austin just in time for SXSW. And can I just say, O.M.G. I'm exhausted, but these past few weeks have been such a blast. South By this year exceeded my greatest expectations and I'm so happy about it. We discovered new music, enjoyed some old favorites, made new friends, played with animals, got our faces painted, drank a lot... of coffee, of course ;) and got little sleep. SO. Worth. IT.

Then there was my favorite day at The Beehive hosted by The Wild Honey Pie music blog. These humans are awesome. They put on a killer showcase with some badass decor (um, gold painted honey bear chandeliers anyone??!) and introduced me to so many great new bands. One being How Sad. They are so wonderful, y'all. Check them out. They were super nice and their new singer/tamborine cutie, Camellia and I were basically best friends by the end of the day. They made me wanna dance (check), become best friends with them (basically check), jump around (yeah, check), and learn the drums (well... I'll work on that one). Besides How Sad I discovered a lot of great new music throughout the week and I'm so thrilled about it. Check out the playlist I put together of some of my faves I saw during my 10(ish) day whirlwind at SXSW!

Weekend Review

1. New jacket I picked up on a whim at Forever 21 this weekend. Such a great, light weight piece for this 70 degree weather we've been having lately :)

2. Saturday was National Margarita Day so naturally you could find me at El Alma off Barton Springs. Hands down my favorite margarita in Austin.

3. After margs we hit up the Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. show at Emo's. They were a ton of fun and brought bubbles, lots of bubbles. I LOVE bubbles, a lot. Great show.

4. I went to Miguel's Imports on Sunday to get a pot for the succulents I bought from Tillery Street Plant Co. a while back. Nice selection of Mexican pottery + it's all 20-50% off right now. Score.

How was your weekend??

Local Spaces- Charm School Vintage

Happy Valentine's Day and happy Friday! Hope you are spending it with special people... or coffee, like me.

Speaking of special, today I'm featuring my favorite vintage shop in Austin, Charm School Vintage at 2109 E Cesar Chavez. The owner Shari is so sweet and you should follow her on instagram @charmschoolvintage. She updates it daily with new arrivals and other available pieces in the shop. It also helps that Shari is an awesome photographer so it's great eye candy for your feed.

One of the best things about Charm School is that the prices are super reasonable with the best selection in Austin in my eyes. And yes, I did buy that colorful beaded vest ($45.00). It's gorgeous. I can't wait for spring so I can wear it with flowy tops, denim and pretty boho dresses. So, seriously, these frigid temperatures we are STILL having, in TEXAS, can move along now. I have beautiful warm weather vintage to wear! Ok, thanks. Happy weekend!

Local Spaces- Tillery Street Plant Co.

Here is a closer look at the scene from my outfit post on Monday. Tillery Street Plant Co. in East Austin is one of the most magical little spots I've ever been to. I couldn't help but smile the whole time I was there. My pal Emma decided to share this gem of a garden with me last week and I'm so glad she did. My friends are kind of the best... I think I might have to take a page from Emma's book and share this special place one day soon with my fellow local blogger buddies, Nicole and Kirsten. Don't be scurrrrred. We can potentially (but hopefully not) kill our succulents together. The moral support from one another will make it so much less painful if our findings don't make it once we bring them home :) What do ya say gals?? I know y'all want to...
