This is what I wore to the Pieceology Vintage pop-up at Byron & Blue in East Austin this past Saturday. I was going for a 1970s boss babe look and I have to say, I think I nailed it. If I were alive back in the 70s I'd have definitely been kicking butt and taking names in this outfit.

As much as I love this look, can you believe I almost didn't even buy the top? I wasn't sure if I'd really be able to pair it with anything, but I took the chance because of how well it fit me and I'm SO glad I did. I've actually already styled it several different ways like with this denim skirt and also with a pair of cropped jeans and some wide-legged floral pants. I love the late 60s, early 70s sort of iconic collar, and of course the bow tie which was the biggest selling point for me. And how could I not pair it with these 70s inspired platform wedges? The perfect combo IMO and although the top + skirt + platforms combo is fantastic, it's also a bit... neutral, so I went out and bought these bright pink tassel earrings to give the look a fun pop of color. I'm so happy with the way it turned out and the pop-up was a lot of fun, too + I was super grateful Chelsea came out and captured all the excitement. What better way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon in Austin, TX?!

Seriously, how perfect is this location in East Austin? Chelsea saw that Jimmy Page poster and immediately knew we had to shoot in front of it and I'm so glad we did. I feel like kinda of the coolest in these photos. But, really, Chelsea always makes me feel like the coolest when we get together to shoot.

Also, let me geek out for a minute about this awesome denim jacket. I found it when I was out thrifting back in December while in California on a buying trip for Pieceology Vintage. It's nice to take a detour from time to time to shop for myself instead of the shop, although I have to say, both are equally exciting. The thrill of the hunt is real, y'all. Especially when you're looking for that one particular item and you actually find it. That was definitely the case with this jacket. I'm thinking of covering it in patches soon so it'll be ready for me once fall hits again.

Do you have a special thrifted piece that you were searching and searching for and then you finally found it and it was just the best?

Lately I've been loving on all things sparkly and shiny. I bought this pair of heels and this gold skirt at the same time, both from Zara. I've been trying to incorporate more color into my wardrobe this year and these two purchases were a small step in that direction.

I'm also planning on wearing this skirt with a really bright, fun crop top to a big SXSW event I'm vending for Pieceology Vintage tomorrow! Yep, I'll be at Swan Dive here in Austin tomorrow from 12-6pm for The Wild Honey Pie showcase. I've been a huge fan and attendee of this event for a long time and am so excited to be a part of it this time around. I'll have all my vintage goodies there plus there will be tons of great music, some rad giveaways, and free drinks! If you'll be in town come hang out! You can RSVP here.

An outfit inspired by one of my favorite 90s movie characters, Cher Horowitz. Her denim skirt would've definitely been a mini and her coat would've been by Moschino or some other expensive designer, not vintage like mine, but other than that I think I nailed it. And speaking of coats, I surely won't be needing one from now until probably November. That's right, it is officially turned to Spring weather here in Austin and has been that way since the beginning of February. But hey, I'm not complaining. Bring on the sundresses and sandals. I'm ready!

Location: The Paper + Craft Pantry

I've been wanting to post these photos for a while but hadn't got the chance to do it. Let me tell you the story of how this adorable shoot came to be.

My friend Leah has modeled for Pieceology Vintage several times. She's the best. And for our last shoot together I ask her to bring her sweet pup Yogi along to take some photos with. But then, once we met up I realized I had two vintage plaid midi skirts, one my size and one Leah's size. I started envisioning how cute it would be if we both had a pup to take photos with together in the skirts... It happened to be raining that morning we were supposed to shoot so we went to a coffee shop to wait out the storm. While we were there we met a guy and his Corgi. I thought, "You know what? I'm just gonna ask him if we can borrow his dog for the shoot!" So, I did. And he agreed! That's how this sweet shoot was possible. Sometimes you just gotta ask for what you want! You may be surprised at the answers you receive.

Anyway, all these pieces are going to be available this Sunday during the Vintage Mini-Market at The Paper + Craft Pantry in Austin, TX from 12pm-5pm. I'll be there with three other awesome vintage vendors: Curious Prints, The Distillery Market and Love Ding. Sips will kindly be provided by Chameleon Cold Brew and Zilker Brewing Company. If you're local to Austin come hangout with us and shop all of our vintage goodies. BONUS!!! I'll be offering 25% off all jacket and coats + select sweater. Hope to see you there. Happy weekend, y'all!

My Favorite Vintage Shops on Instagram

Here are a few of my favorite vintage shops on Instagram right now. I've linked to all of them and also given a little description about each one below.

1) @charmschoolvintage
Insta_CSV_1
Charm School Vintage - This Austin-based shop is one of my favorites in town. I'm sure you've noticed because almost every outfit post of mine has one of their items featured. Mainly my trusty vintage Coach backpack! Plus, they sell on their IG account and honestly that's how I've scored a lot of my pieces.

2) @meekvintage
Insta_MV
Meek Vintage - Run by two sisters in Denver Colorado, this shop is so whimsical and highly curated. They even have an IG account that they sell exclusive pieces on a couple times a week @shopmeekvintage. They carry lots of petite sizes too which I appreciate, of course!

3) @mothoddities
Insta_MO
Moth Oddities - You've heard me talk about these guys before! Check out this blog post to find out more about this Minneapolis-based shop run by my friends Yana and Ian. They carry vintage from Italy, too + they're on a cross country road trip right now. So cool.

4) @wonsaponatimevintage
Insta_WV
Wonsaponatime Vintage - What really drew me to this Florida-based shop was the photography and styling of the photos on their IG account. I'm always so delighted to come across one while scrolling through my feed. Every shot is perfectly executed and just look at their space! Gorgeous.

I hope you enjoyed this post because I'll be sharing even more soon. There are so many beautiful vintage shops out there to explore and add to your feed! Let me know your thoughts on these accounts if you do go check them out (and you should!). Happy weekend, y'all!

Mixing Vintage With Modern: 1990s Knit Sweater

Photos by me

Last week I posted an intro about a new series I'll be featuring every couple weeks here on the blog called Mixing Vintage with Modern. Here's the first installment!

Vintage Item: 1990s Chunky Knit Sweater
Found at a thrift store in Pacific Grove, California.

Occasion #1: Dinner with friends.
Sweater_Dinner_1
Vintage Sweater, Ily Couture Plaid Blanket Scarf, Banana Republic Coat (similar) , H&M Jeans, Rag & Bone Booties, Cleobella Bag (similar)

I don't know about you but when I go out for dinner with friends 9 times out of 10 it's pretty casual. I find that adding a pair of booties and some skinny jeans makes this outfit perfect for an evening out with the girls.

Occasion #2: Running errands.
Sweater_Errands_1
Vintage Sweater, Topshop Jacket (similar), AG Jeans (similar), Converse Shoes, Canvas Tote Bag from a music festival (similar), Interlaced Goods Scarf, Ray-Ban Sunglasses

This is how you would most often see me wearing this sweater. The #1 rule when running errands is comfort, right?! So, flat shoes are a must. I also like to carry a tote rather than a purse just in case I end up picking up something that needs to be stowed away easily while I run other errands. Plus, sometimes it's nice if I want to bring a water bottle, snack, deodorant, etc.

 Occasion #3: Coffee date.
Sweater_Coffee_1
Vintage Sweater, Forever 21 Dress (seen here as a skirt) and Denim Jacket (similar), Black Booties (similar), Urban Outfitters Tote, Brixton Hat, Black Tights, Storie in Italy Necklace

When I'm meeting up with a friend for coffee, ever though it's usually a casual occasion, I still like to feel cute and put together. Adding a hat and a pair of fringe booties accomplishes this without being too dressed up. I also always like to bring my computer bag with my laptop in tow just in case I want to stick around after to get some work done!

Let me know in the comments what you think of this post! I had so much fun putting it together so I hope you enjoyed it. I'll have another one of these coming up in a couple weeks!
