Here are a few shots from the Pieceology Vintage Spring 2016 lookbook, "Across the Terrain", in collaboration with my friends Moth Oddities. Yana and Ian are the co-founders of this online vintage shop based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Yana shot these awesome photos with a disposable camera she bought off eBay and I'm so in love I just had to share them here!

I met Yana and Ian through my friend Gina who I've talked about here on the blog before. Gina is a vintage buyer for PVTG and Moth Oddities and when I was visiting her in California in December Yana and Ian just happened to be passing through while on a big cross country road trip (follow their travels on Instagram @mothoddities with #mothtravels) so I was able to meet them. They told me they'd be hitting Austin at some point and I immediately asked if they wanted to stay with me and/or collaborate on something while they were in town. They obliged and here we are! They came in town a couple weeks ago and we put together this very badass, Texas-themed lookbook. It was so much fun + Yana and Ian are such nice people, not to mention they were extremely respectful guests during there stay at my house. I'm so grateful that I've had the opportunity to meet such awesome people through starting this little business of mine. It's pretty rad.

Anyway, the full lookbook launched today so go check it out on the PVTG site now! You can shop all the looks there as well and be sure to visit Moth Oddities web shop, too. They have some majorly swoon-worthy vintage, y'all!

Hello! I hope you all had a great holiday last week. I sure did even though it was a very busy one. Obviously, since I accidentally took an impromptu break from the blog. But I'm back and I've got lots of fun posts coming up in the new year for y'all that I'm super excited about.

But first, I wanted to share a long overdue recap of the first pop up event I had a few weeks ago for Pieceology Vintage. It was such a fun day and I couldn't have done it without the help of all my friends and family, not only on the day of the event, but in the months leading up to it. I'm so grateful to have such wonderful people who support and encourage me to keep spreading my wings wider every single day. Lots more events for PVTG and fun new content for this blog to come in the new year. Stay tuned!

P.S. Check out Chelsea's recap of the event over on her blog.

Hello! Happy Wednesday! Sorry for the silence Monday and Tuesday. I've been hard at work on the Pieceology Vintage web site so I haven't had much time to work on the blog this week. I hope you'll bare with me while I get through these next two weeks leading up to my pop-up on December 13th at The Paper + Craft Pantry in Austin. It's going to be down to the wire as far as prepping goes, but I'm up for the challenge and so excited/nervous for it. If you are local, I hope you'll come hang out!

Also, don't worry, I'll be posting my December small goals tomorrow. In the meantime, enjoy another sneak peak of the PVTG Fall/Winter Collection. Cardigan and fringe boots from Italy, denim button down found in Nashville.

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a magical Thanksgiving holiday. I'm skipping my weekly update this week to give you a little PVTG preview from the lookbook we shot a few weeks ago. I'll be sharing these little sneak peeks in the coming weeks leading up to my event on December 13th at The Paper + Craft Pantry.

Before I opened my shop I always wondered where vintage shops got all their product from. It's basically a mixture of vintage wholesalers, thrift stores and estate sales. I've also noticed that when people know you are in the vintage business they like to give you all their vintage stuff which I LOVE. I've gotten several pieces from friends and family. Their old forgotten pieces are now my vintage treasures I can add to my shop for you! Another thing to know about PVTG is that a large majority of the pieces are very unique because they are coming straight from Italy. The vest, jeans and boots in this photo are all vintage pieces I've received from over there. The top I thrifted in Nashville and the rings are handmade by my friend in Italy as well.

As I've mentioned before, I also carry jewelry from local Texas makers. This amazing bolo necklace is from Little Pieces of Hope which is another small business based out of Austin. Their jewelry is beautiful, well made and a bonus is that 15% of their proceeds go to charities in need. Hopefully one day I'll be able to do more, but for now while I get this business off the ground, it's nice to be able to contribute in some small way through supporting another local, small business in Austin.

More sneak peeks and tiny tidbits about PVTG coming next week! Enjoy your weekend!

All pieces from the Pieceology Vintage line

I promised I'd let y'all in on the secret about the project I've been hinting at and working so hard on for the past couples months. Well, this is it! Introducing Pieceology Vintage! A curated collection of vintage clothing and accessories from Italy and beyond. Everything you see in these photos (minus the rings and bracelets) are all pieces from my line. I've gotten a lot of questions since I made the announcement on Instagram this past weekend so I'm here to answer them for you now!

Why did you decide to start this?
Ever since I can remember I've been interested in fashion and around high school I decided I'd love to open my own clothing boutique one day. For years I'd thought about how I could do that in a way I felt was special. I didn't just want to start selling clothes from wholesale retailers in sizes S, M, L and 5 of this same shoe and 10 of that same dress. (Disclaimer: There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, but it just never felt like the right fit for me.) So, I started playing around with ideas of how I could start something and make it truly unique to me. Well, fast forward to my trip to Europe this summer...

What was the inspiration?
As I've mentioned before, I went to the Cinque Terre at the beginning of my Europe trip to participate in a creative workshop hosted by Justina Blakeney. While at the workshop I met some really talented people, one of them being Gina Pagnella, an American who has been living in Italy for the past 10 years. She had also recently started a vintage wholesale business over there. We hit it off and I could tell we had a very similar vision/style right away... And that's when the light bulb went off! I needed to be selling vintage clothing from Europe back home in Austin! Italy holds such a special place in my heart now and I'm so excited to continue my love affair with that beautiful country through this business.

Where do you get the clothes?
A lot of the vintage I buy comes from Europe, specifically Italy. The mules and the belt in these photos are from there. Other things I pick up when I'm out thrifting at flea markets and I also get some of my pieces from other vintage wholesalers in the states. In addition to vintage, I will also be carrying different jewelry and accessories from makers in Texas, Europe and other places in the states. Currently I'm carrying lines from makers in Houston, Austin and Italy. I wanted to support other local and small businesses by featuring their items in my full collection. It's so rewarding and valuable to support your peers and I am very passionate about that being a part of my business model as well.

Where will the clothes be available for purchase?
There will be no physical location as of right now. I will only be selling online on the Pieceology Vintage web site (coming this December!), on Instagram, at weekend flea markets, possibly music festivals, by appointment, and at pop-up shops. I am hosting my first ever pop-up at The Paper + Craft Pantry here in Austin on December 13th. See here for more details about the event!

I hope this post gave you a better idea of what is in store for my shop! If you have any other questions please feel free to post them below in the comments or email me at april@pieceologyvintage.com. Yeah, I've got my own email address! Super legit, y'all!

I also wanted to give a shout out and thank you to Corey Carbo for designing my bad ass logo + helping me bring my brand to life, Chelsea Laine Francis for taking my photo, Pei Sim for all the guidance and advice about starting a small business + allowing me to host an event in her space, The Paper + Craft Pantry, which is having it's grand opening this week! And lastly, a big thanks to my mom for believing in me and encouraging me to get off my butt and start this thing!

It's gonna be a wild ride, y'all! Stay tuned here and at the Pieceology Vintage Instagam account for more updates.
